Rest is as Important as Work

"Rest is as important as work. In the traditional model, people worked long hours to accomplish as much as possible and get ahead in their careers. However, there is a high rate of burnout and job dissatisfaction and employee turnover in this model.
The new model recognizes that we’re people, not machines. That we have lives and interests outside work. That we need a good nap now and then (or even every day). That when we’re well rested, we work better, and we’re happier.
I’m not saying you have to rest just as much as you work, but that you should recognize that not only is nothing wrong with taking a nap, it’s actually a good thing. Work doesn’t have to be monotonous and done in 8-hour shifts — it can be fun, and done in productive bursts. See this article"
Read this from the site that Honeylou referred to me.
Lately, as I've mentioned in my previous posts, I've been complaining about work. But I've found a renewed strength in Carry Schmidt's Life Quest (See previous post).
Twixters

I came across this term while I was reading the book Life Quest by Cary Schmidt.

And I can really relate to what they call the Twixters.

Are you one of us too?

I'm not proud to be one. And now that I knew about it, I'll work my way out of this

Day 1. Life Quest
I’ve Learned of Twixters
Twixters are those who are stuck between adolescence and adulthood. Twixters are:
Those who don’t want to grow up.
Those who want to get the privileges and pleasures of the adults but don’t want to work for it.
Already on the doorway to adulthood but fears to go through it.

On Maturity and Responsibility
All this time I think I’m already mature and responsible. Because [1] I have a job; [2] I’m living with friends and not with my parents; [3] I don’t ask for money anymore; [4] I don’t need permission from my parents, etc. But this does not equate to maturity.

Maturity is embracing life’s responsibility and accepting life’s growing pains. Maturity shows up in a person’s life because they own and accept the God-given responsibilities of life. I’ve learned that all my complaints about work only show my immaturity. I’m always looking for fun and don’t want to face hardships which are just some signs of me being immature. I’ve always voiced out my “agony” about work and k...

And My Life Quest Begins

Lately I’ve been feeling down. And, always, I blame it to only one thing: my work. I’ve been complaining about my job here and there and it affected not just my performance at work but my well-being as a whole.

I kept on asking my close friends on what to do and how to deal with my “work problem”, always they say if I want out, then go. But something is stopping me from quitting. A still small voice (More on this later).

A Bible student friend of mine lent me some books to read (I’ve been complaining to him to about “my life” and he advised me to read the books). He suggested that I try reading Life Quest by Cary Schmidt first. I said, yeah, sure, anything to help me. I got the book from him and attempted to read. But I never really delved into it, throwing excuses at myself like “I’m too tired,” “I don’t have the time,” “I have lots of things to do for this”. And so the book gathered dust on top of my closet.

As mentioned, lately, I’m on my new emo low. I can hear myself complaining too ...

And after that spark of hope, i began wanting again. I started tracing my steps and began asking same questions that was left unanswered before. And when I looked for answers, reality knocked the wind out of me. It's telling me to stop hoping because there is a slim chance of the past repeating itself, slim to none.

When you leave one place, people will move on and will forget about you.
DAM's Last Night

April 11, 2008
Gerry's Grill Glorietta and Bagaberde, Pasig

So happy that this dinner pushed through. Our "last" dinner with dam? Well, looks like it but I hope not.

Aww. We'll surely miss you... *sniff*

Everyone was there (well, the usual attendees were there). Sayang Sir Arnel didn't make it.

Had dinner at Gerry's Grill (I got the leftovers because I was super late coz of work) but took a lot of photos using Dam's dslr. Saya!

Went to Bagaberde after (at last, nakapag-live band na kami). We can cross that off our list na.

Saw the cutie vocalist of Freestyle. His name is Joshua. Had the spotlight on me coz it was my "birthday" and sang the chorus of I'm Coming Out for everyone to hear.

Saya. Saya. Saya.

There’s a lot to be explored in a country made up of 7,107 islands, where the breeze is balmy throughout the year. In fact, the opportunity to discover something new is limitless; and this is exactly why Havaianas — being a brand that mirrors the easy vibe of the tropics — is giving you the chance to indulge in summer bliss all year round.

In the hopes of underscoring the country’s unexplored gems and rediscovering favorite coastal destinations, Havaianas, in partnership with Studio 23’s NewsCentral and with the support of the Department of Tourism, launches Flipping for the Beach. The initiative underscores the inherent tourism potential of the country via an endeavor that invites locals to share the unique activities that one can do to immerse in the diversity that the Philippine coast has to offer.

Whether it’s diving the sunken cemetery of Camiguin, swimming with the stingle...
